      <image:caption>Dr Julien Tempone is a philosopher, psychotherapist and academic, holding a PhD, Masters of Social Work, 1st class Honors in Philosophy and Science from the ANU and a Bachelor of Integrative Psychotherapy. Julien has worked as a clinician in a variety of settings; as a complex trauma practitioner and social worker, currently working only in private practice with clients facing a range of issues, in regards to mental health and wellbeing, trauma-recovery, self-development and spiritual crisis. He primarily teaches as a Senior Lecturer in Psychotherapy, Councelling —nationally coordinating the Masters study of Grief, Trauma and Philosophy. This knowledge informs, and is informed by, his clinical practice, alongside his previous lecturing at the Ikon Institute, the largest provider of transpersonal psychology, integrative psychotherapy in Australia. Dr Julien-Tempone has had a lifelong engagement with Eastern contemplative traditions across the Thai-Forest, Burmese, Tibetan and Secular Buddhist traditions; he has presented at Buddhist conferences globally, and spent many months in silent retreat environments. He has presented on Buddhism and Mindfulness at conferences globally and has worked in affiliation with the Mind and Life summer research institute, with extensive training in Buddhist contemplative traditions. He is also a published academic in the areas of philosophy of mind, cognitive science, phenomenology and conscious. He possesses an active research interest in the onto-epistemic foundations of psychology east and west, ethno-medicine and traditional shamanic practices, alongside contemporary psychodynamic, existential and transpersonal approaches to psychotherapy.
